Output 1
Establishment of ASHEWA as a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Swaziland. Professor Lydia Makhubu will be responsible for this.

Output 2
Selection and appointment of full-time or part-time coordinator. At the beginning this will involve a volunteer, but it is envisaged that in due course this task will require a full time professional together with an administrative assistant. Lydia Makhubu and Fay Chung will coordinate this.

Activities
1. Working out terms of reference for the coordinator and assistant. 2. Selection of a volunteer as an immediate strategy. 3. Fund-raising to cover the cost of running a small coordinating office. 4. Advertisement and selection of suitable candidate. 5. Appointment of coordinator.

Output 3
Establishment of a website for ASHEWA. Fay Chung will be responsible for initiating and supervising this.

Output 4
Data collection including case studies of successful as well as challenging examples of university programmes and of women academics in Africa. The objective is (a) to focus on research and development programmes relevant to women's roles in development; (b) examine ways of increasing the number of women enrolled at universities and in other higher education institutions; (c) collect information on women academics and their areas of work.

Activities
1. Desk and internet based studies of existing programmes, with assistance from AAU, FAWE, UNESCO and IICBA. 2. Studies of the four existing women's universities, including both successes and challenges. 3. Publication of these studies through email, website and hard copy. 4. Workshops to analyze and integrate such programmes into existing universities and higher education institutions.

Output 5
Establishment of focal points in African countries, with equal representation of the different linguistic and sub-regional groups. This will be the responsibility of the Coordinator in consultation with the Steering Committee.

Activities
1. Establishment of terms of reference for focal points, in particular the work that is expected of them and the possible funding of this work. 
2. Liaison with FAWE, Nairobi, and FAWE National Chapters to identify strong FAWE National Chapters which are willing and able to be focal points for their countries. 3. Establishment of suitable work plans for these countries.

Output 6
Formation of a network of existing women's universities and women academics.

Activities
1. Creating an email network of women's universities.
2. Creating a discussion board on relevant topics on the internets on issues related to women's tertiary level education. 
3. Holding joint workshops of women higher education leaders, with a view to improving coordination and leadership skills. This will be in collaboration with FAWE and with the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) which has an ongoing programme to develop women's leadership in education.

Output 6
Fund raising. This will be one of the primary tasks of the Coordinator, assisted as much as possible by the Steering Committee members.

Activities
1. Production of information and advocacy documents which will be utilized for fund raising purposes.
2. Utilizing the budget for 2005  2006 accepted by the Steering Committee at its first meeting held in Addis Ababa, 3  5 August, 2004, establishment of a fund raising strategy and activities.

Output 7
Monitoring and evaluation of programme

Activities
1. Ongoing evaluation. 
2. Summative evaluation of programmes.
